เปิดเผยความหมาย เข้าใจบทแปล – The Disclosure of Meaning Exhibition

นิทรรศการที่ทำให้เห็นการแปลอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม โดยแบ่งนำเสนอ 3 ส่วน

1. จัดแสดงหนังสือแปลฉบับเก่า ผลงานแปลของของนักแปลระดับตำนาน “อมราวดี – Amaravati”
2. จัดแสดงปกหนังสือแปลร่วมสมัยจากสำนักพิมพ์ไทย 16 แห่งที่ร่วมเทศกาลฯ ครั้งนี้
3. นำเสนอผลงานล่าสุดจากเพื่อนสำนักพิมพ์พันธมิตรที่ตีพิมพ์ในปี พ.ศ. 2566

The exhibition illustrating translation through concrete objects are divided into 3 parts.

1. Display of old translated monographs by a legendary translator Amaravati.

2. Exhibition of covers of contemporary translated books from 16 long-standing and prominent publishers in Thailand.

3. Showcase of latest works in 2023 by our publisher partners.

The exhibition is held at the Library, Goethe-Institut Bangkok, Sathorn Road, soi 1.

From 30 September to 31 October 2023,
on Mondays to Thursdays, 09:30 - 18:00 / Saturdays, 08:00 - 17:00.
(The Library closes 13 - 15 and 21 - 23 October.)

ผลงานนวนิยายแปลจากห้องสมุดส่วนตัวของนักแปลระดับตำนาน อมราวดี

จัดแสดงผลงานแปลของ “อมราวดี” หรือ ลัดดา ถนัดหัตถกรรม (พ.ศ. 2459 - 2538) จำนวน 9 เล่ม และหนังสือ ความพยาบาท ของ “แม่วัน” หรือพระยาสุรินทราชา (พ.ศ. 2422 - 2484) ซึ่งถือเป็นหนังสือแปลเล่มแรกของไทย หนังสือทั้งหมดนำมาจากห้องสมุดส่วนตัวของ “อมราวดี” โดยมุ่งหวังให้นักอ่านรุ่นหลังได้ชมรูปลักษณ์และการผลิตของหนังสือแปลต่างยุคสมัย และเพื่อเชิดชูเกียรตินักแปลผู้บุกเบิกวงการวรรณกรรมแปลในประเทศไทย

ขอขอบคุณคุณอัญชลี ไนดอร์ฟ และ คุณศศิภา รัศมิทัต ทายาทผู้ดูแลหนังสือทรงคุณค่าทั้งหมดนี้ ที่เอื้อเฟื้อให้ทีม BBF2023 ได้นำออกมาจัดแสดง

ทีมผู้จัดเทศกาลฯ ขอความร่วมมือผู้เข้าชมงานทุกท่านไม่สัมผัสหนังสือที่จัดแสดงเพื่อป้องกันความเสียหาย เนื่องจากกระดาษหนังสือทุกเล่มมีความเก่าตามกาลเวลา

อมราวดี (Amaravati) เป็นนามปากกาของ ลัดดา ถนัดหัตถกรรม (Ladda Thanathatthakam) ชื่อเดิม แฮนนา เร็กซ์เฮาเซ่น (Hanna Rexhausen) มีเชื้อชาติเยอรมัน สัญชาติไทย เป็นบุตรีคนเดียวของเภสัชกรชาวเยอรมัน คุณเกออร์ก (Georg) และคุณสง่า รุ่งศรี (Sa-nga Roongsri) เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 12 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2459 เข้าเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาที่โรงเรียนสายปัญญาและจบการศึกษาชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายที่โรงเรียนวัฒนาวิทยาลัย อมราวดีชื่นชอบการเขียนการอ่านมาตั้งแต่วัยเยาว์  เริ่มแปลเรื่องสั้นและได้ตีพิมพ์ครั้งแรกในหนังสือของโรงเรียนวัฒนาวิทยา จากนั้นอมราวดีก็ฝึกฝนฝีมือการเขียนการแปลอย่างสม่ำเสมอ ยึดถือหลักการแปลว่าต้องแปลให้ถูกและแปลให้สวย หมายความว่า ผู้แปลต้องรักษาความหมายของต้นฉบับเดิมไว้อย่างครบถ้วนโดยไม่ลืมเลือกเฟ้นถ้อยคำของภาษาปลายทางอย่างเหมาะเจาะให้ได้อรรถรสตามต้นฉบับ ผู้แปลต้องมีทักษะการใช้ภาษาต้นและภาษาปลายทางเป็นอย่างดีเพื่อให้เกิดประโยชน์แก่ผู้อ่านสูงสุด อมราวดีมีผลงานแปลมากมาย โดยเฉพาะงานแปลจากนวนิยายของนักเขียนยุควิกตอเรียนชาวอังกฤษและนักเขียนคลาสสิกชาวญี่ปุ่น ผลงานทุกชิ้นกลายเป็นมรดกทางวรรณกรรม ถือเป็นตัวบทให้แก่วงการศึกษาการแปลและวรรณกรรมไทยจนถึงบัดนี้ อมราวดี ถึงแก่กรรมเมื่อวันที่ 21 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2538 สิริอายุได้ 79 ปี

Translated novels from the legendary translator Amaravati’s private library.

A showcase of 9 novels translated by Amaravati or Ladda Thanathatthakam (1916 - 1995) and the Thai translation of Vendetta by ‘Mae Wan’ or Phaya Surindharaja (1879 - 1941), deemed the first translated work into Tai. All items in this exhibition are from Amaravati’s private library. The exhibition aims at showing later generations of readers the features and production of translated books from bygone and at playing homage to the pioneering translators in Thailand.

Due to the age of the books, visitors are requested not to touch the displays to prevent possible damage.

ปกหนังสือแปลร่วมสมัยจากสำนักพิมพ์ไทย 16 แห่ง

นิทรรศการแสดงปกหนังสือแปลจากสำนักพิมพ์ไทยที่มีผลงานออกสู่สายตานักอ่านอย่างมากมายในช่วง 1 - 4 ทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา ไม่ว่าจะเป็นสำนักพิมพ์ขนาดใหญ่และสำนักพิมพ์ขนาดเล็ก โดยแต่ละสำนักพิมพ์มีวิธีการคัดเลือกต้นฉบับ คัดสรรบุคลากรงานแปล และแนวทางการสร้างสรรค์งานผลิตที่แตกต่างกัน แต่มีจุดมุ่งหมายเดียวกันคือพยายามสรรหาเนื้อหาที่น่าสนใจและเป็นประโยชน์ให้แก่นักอ่านไทย อีกทั้งเพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานการผลิตหนังสือแปลให้ทัดเทียมกับนานาชาติ

ทั้งนี้ ยังมีการจัดแสดงผลงานการออกแบบปกเล่มพิเศษ special cover, editor’s pick คัดสรรจากบรรณาธิการบริหารของสำนักพิมพ์ที่ผลิตงานแปลเพียงอย่างเดียวและยังเป็นพันธมิตรของเทศกาลฯ ตั้งแต่ต้น ได้แก่ สำนักพิมพ์กำมะหยี่, เจ ลิเทอเรเจอร์, ไลบรารี่ เฮ้าส์ และอ่าน ๑๐๑ จัดพิมพ์ใหม่ขนาดแท็บลอยด์ (tabloid) ร่วมอยู่ในพื้นที่เดียวกันด้วย

Thai contemporary translation covers from 16 Thai publishers

The exhibition of prominent translation covers in the last 4 decades from publishers big and small. Each publisher has their own practices in screening manuscripts and selecting translating personnel, and different creative and production processes. However, they share a goal in trying to obtain interesting and enriching contents for Thai readers and in raising translation production to international standards.
